A Kick in Our Attitude : Getting Rid of Junks and Bouncing Back

Life Lessons for Daily Living  No.2

Getting the best out of life and  ourselves  basically springs from  our attitude. Our attitude is the response we have towards people or circumstances which is manifested in our emotional and mental tones.
To live a fulfilling and rewarding life, we need to know  what is important to us. It is also  getting rid of the “junks” in  every aspect  of  our being. The different facets of our self – emotional, psychological, intellectual, social, spiritual, physical  must be cleanse from all “ impurities” that slowly  pulls us down.
The “junks”  in our attitude  might  reflect the negative feelings we harbor  for so many years. The emotional trauma we keep in our hearts which from time to time continue to haunt us  as well as our whole being. These hinders  us from moving on and maximizing the present  moment we are in. In effect we are missing on the beauty and joy of life.
The “emotional junks “ are what  really  affects us and pulls  us down. For some reason, we are entangled with the thoughts that what if this would happen  how will  I react , and what will my life be ?  A lot of times, our worries are  higher  than we could imagine. We tend to be swayed  by our  “ thought attacks”  and  most of the times, we are unaware that we already  spent a lot of our energies with all the  unnecessary  small stuffs in our life.
As  Sam  Glenn, a well known author on attitude emphasized, our attitude should always be a top priority because it is the energy source and front line we use when we go at life, interact with others, and face obstacles. It is what functions through our  knowledge, skills and education.
Our attitude is not going to be perfect, but it can always be better.  Our life gets better when we have the right attitude.  The starting point in creating a better you, is  to create  a better  attitude. Our attitude takes on many shapes which can hurt us, or stop us  from receiving’s  life rewards. You will also be the one who will see and deduced that it can be used  to benefit us  beyond belief.
As an example our attitude may take on the expression of  humor and on the opposite hatred . Humor breaks  down barriers and  attracts  relationships, health and even success. On the other hand, hatred  causes people and  reward to head the other way.  When you are facing  desperate times, it is really  difficult to determine what is the best or right decision to make. With the kind of direction you will take you must be accountable with whatever outcome it might result.
When we are excited about life, our attitude is positively inclined. We treasure every moment that comes, we are all smiles in everything that happens which radiates in our gestures, language and aura. In all our life circumstances, with all its  ups and downs our  attitude is at stake.
With all the tides I have been through in my life, family related, personal, career, academic and concerning my health, I opted  to face  the scenario squarely. Initially, I was shocked but I stumbled upon the realization that the best first  choice is to change my attitude. By faith in God, I embraced the debilitating  condition that I had, and I choose the road to recovery with a brave heart and mind.   As  they say,  it is easier  said than done, which is precisely true. But, everything is dependent on how you view the scenario from different angles and taking the most appropriate “ picture “.  As the old  adage  simply puts it  “ there is always a light at the end of the tunnel”.
My goal in sharing this personal article is to deepen your awareness of how dynamic your attitude is, what it can and cannot do for you and  why it is so significant to every aspect of your life.
The secret too is in “ bouncing back”  and trying to see the brighter side of  whatever  it is that you are going through. Personally, I believe that the test of our true worth as a person is not  basically  dependent on the material  gains that you have accumulated  albeit  it matters  especially in our highly technological world, but rather on how you made your life more meaningful and significant. It is in becoming  a source of inspiration to others and being  God’s instrument  for  them to realize their own worth  as a person. After all, the  true essence of  our existence is in  living, loving and learning  as well as  in  maximizing  our  God given potentials.
